Video: The fallacy of IndyCar’s use and promotion of corn ethanol

Using Corn for Fuel seems like a dumb idea in light of new research, but heck, what tree-hugger idea isn’t dumb.

From 2007 until last year, IndyCar used an 85% mix of corn-based ethanol and gasoline, or E85 mix, making it 85% renewable. Only problem is – scientists have now learned that puts more pollution into the atmosphere than burning gasoline – as this video covers.

Now Shell supplies a new 100% renewable fuel to IndyCar that blends a second-generation ethanol derived from sugarcane waste and other biofuel. Research may show that pollutes the air even more, but that research is not done yet.
