F1: Miami Palm Club called “the best hospitality I’ve ever seen.”
Adam Stern of Sports Business Journal writes that the F1 Crypto.com Miami Grand Prix wrapped up its second edition two months ago with an announced weekend sellout of 270,491, and the race once again had a broad cultural appeal with A-list celebrities, business leaders and region-wide sponsor activation.
Attendees at the race included Jeff Bezos, Elon Musk, Larry Ellison and Frederic Arnault, son of Bernard Arnault, the four richest people in the world by net worth. Bezos’ AWS is a partner of F1 and Scuderia Ferrari; Ellison’s Oracle is Red Bull Racing’s title sponsor and brought Musk; and while Frederic Arnault’s reasoning for attending was unclear, his family’s LVMH empire has recently expanded its luxury hotel chains into the U.S.
The hospitality area that drew the most buzz this year among VIPs was the Palm Club, an invitation-only area for 200 people, where at one point the net worth of the attendees inside added up to well over half a trillion dollars. In the room at one time were Musk, Ellison, Arnault, Bezos, plus business luminaries like ESPN President Jimmy Pitaro, Apple exec Eddy Cue, RedBird Capital’s Gerry Cardinale, SpingHill Company CEO Maverick Carter and execs from Arctos Sports Partners, according to people familiar with the matter.
