IndyCar: Kyle Larson is set to have his IndyCar seat fitted in May
–by Mark Cipolloni–
Hendrick Motorsports NASCAR star Kyle Larson will have a seat fitting at Indianapolis Motor Speedway for Indy 500 practice next month, even though he won’t be driving.
To be ready for his Indy 500 debut with Arrow McLaren next year, Larson announced during NASCAR Cup Series qualifying at Talladega Superspeedway that he will get a seat fitting in an Arrow McLaren IndyCar within the next few weeks.
“I don’t know of other plans outside of that yet, but at least having the (seat) insert ready to go and all that for if something does come up for a test, so I’m excited about that. It’s exciting, and I look forward to hopefully learning as much as I can over the next couple of months, but then even past that.” Larson said.
McLaren Racing CEO Zak Brown stated that he planned to have Larson test an IndyCar this year and attend listen in during a real IndyCar race to gain a sense of the Arrow McLaren process.
This will also give IndyCar some needed media attention as the media members will follow Larson’s every move, and record his every word, to put together a story.
It happened with Fernando Alonso as well. The Alonso stories came, they went, and now it’s just a distant memory.
Larson will come, he’ll race, and then he’ll return to NASCAR – just a distant IndyCar memory.
