IndyCar: Current IndyCars slower than F2 and Super Formula – Brown

Zak Brown has joined the chorus of people saying the current IndyCar is too slow and too outdated, which is contrary to what IndyCar Series owner Roger Penske and IndyCar President Jay Frye say.

Penske and Frye like to spew bullshit to the media and make their journalist sheep believe their 11-year-old car is like a new one.

Which of course is rather hilarious.

Zak Brown told Motorsports.com in Laguna Seca, “I think it will give the series a shot in the arm if you take the technology to the next level.”

He later expanded on the topic, saying that he’d “like to see the cars a little bit faster, with more horsepower and a new lighter chassis. If you look at Super Formula and Formula 2, those cars are quicker.

“So I think refreshing the product, we would benefit from it.”

However, the series bosses, Penske and Frye, want to continue to run IndyCar on the cheap because sponsor money in the paddock is limited, and has been for a long time.

They boast a car count as high as perhaps 30 next year because cost to participate is low. Yes, compared to F1, costs in IndyCar are very low.

However, they sell more Hot Dogs than Filet Mignon each year. If you run IndyCar like a Hot Dog, it will never be a Filet Mignon.
