IMSA and NASCAR to race on the bullet-ridden streets of Chicago (Update)

If you plan on going to the center-city Chicago NASCAR race, it might be wise to wear body armor because the shootings and crime are out of control in democrat Lori Lightfoot’s city.

July 20, 2022

NASCAR and IMSA fans and crew members had better wear a bulletproof vest when they visit the downtown streets of Chicago starting in 2023.

Chicago is a gun-free city – no guns allowed.  But that does not stop the cities democrats from shooting people. Criminals do not obey laws.

Never have.

Never will.

In Chicago, only the bad guys have guns.

Luckily that is not the case in nearby Indiana when over the weekend a crazed person pulled out a Sig Sauer M400 semi-automatic rifle along with another rifle and a pistol in a shopping mall.  A citizen carrying a gun legally (it’s allowed in Indiana) pulled out his Glock pistol and shot the perpetrator dead immediately, but not before the nut job killed 3 unfortunate people. Many more would have died had the armed citizen not acted swiftly and with deadly force.

In Chicago, good luck because you can’t protect yourself with a gun against a crazy person with a gun, but you could wear a bulletproof vest and hope for the best.

Going back to 2020, the city reported almost 770 homicides, which was a 50% uptick from the year prior. In 2021, that number rose to over 800, which broke a 25-year record for homicides in Chicago. There were a total of 3,561 reported shootings in the city in 2021 alone.

While the statistics are trending in the right direction in 2022, the city is still on pace to have over 600 homicides by the end of the year.

This past weekend, the city reported that at least eight people were killed and another 18 people were wounded in shootings across Chicago. Over the weekend of July 4th, At least 10 people were killed and 62 others were wounded by gunfire in Chicago.

More Chicago Crime Stats

While shootings and violent crimes are a major issue in Chicago, city police have arrested the fewest number of suspects in at least 20 years.

Why?

Because democrat Mayor Lightfoot defunded the police, resulting in a shortage of police officers to keep the criminals off the streets.

Democrat Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot defunded the police, and homicides are rampant.

The city’s mayor addressing the upcoming NASCAR races in Chicago was sure to note that they’re committed to executing the event “in a safe and secure manner,” so fear not, NASCAR fans, Mayor Lightfoot will protect you.

Democrat Lightfoot pleaded to the federal government for additional law enforcement resources recently to crack down on rampant crime, despite supporting measures to defund her city’s police just last year.

The Chicago Police Department announced it will no longer chase fleeing suspects in certain cases as crime skyrockets in the Windy City.

The department announced the new policy at a Tuesday press conference and said it will go into effect after ‘every officer is trained,’ Superintendent David Brown said.

Crime in the city has soared 34 percent this year. Theft, burglary, and robbery are all up significantly at 65, 31, and 21 percent, respectively.
