F1: Leclerc tops opening practice in Monaco

Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc’s 1m 14.531s lap on medium tires topping the Practice 1 times for the historic Monaco GP F1 race.  Leclerc’s Ferrari looked planted around the tight streets of Monte Carlo.

Sergio Perez was 2nd quick for Red Bull, 0.039s behind on hard tires.

Carlos Sainz Jr. was 3rd in his #55 Ferrari, just 0.07s slower than his teammate.

Max Verstappen was 4th in the 31 Red Bull, 0.181s behind then there was a gap from 5gth back with Lando Norris 5th in the McLaren, 0.525s back.

Times are still way off the 1m10s pole time from lat year.

Lewis Hamilton was complaining of porpoising in his Mercedes and ended up almost 1-second behind in 10th and again beaten by his teammate George Russell by 0.3s

Don’t let the Aston Martin times fool you, both drivers set their times on the softest red tires.  They remain slow and out to lunch, which you will see when the other teams bolt on their soft red tires.
