F1: British GP to have more spectators than Indy 500
The British Grand Prix will take place in front of a capacity crowd after the Formula 1 race was granted test event status; the GP falls a day before coronavirus restrictions are set to be lifted; the move means more than 140,000 spectators will watch the race on July 18, exceeding the 135,000 announced by the Indy 500, though AR1.com has challenged the validity of that number, saying it was in reality much higher.
The GP takes place on July 18, a day before coronavirus restrictions are set to be lifted, but a full crowd will be allowed after organizers secured test event status for the weekend’s racing.
“It is fantastic news that Silverstone will be a full capacity event, and it will be an incredible weekend with hundreds of thousands of fans being there to see our first-ever Sprint event on the Saturday and the main event on Sunday,” Stefano Domenicali, president and CEO of Formula 1, said.
