Stage set for Speedcar debut

Speedcar is meant to stop NASCAR from expanding globally should they try. Bernie Ecclestone is behind this stock car series

Race fans visiting the Bahrain International Circuit later this week can expect a feast for the senses as Speedcar Series drivers perform the pioneering public demonstrations of the new car.

Between Thursday, November 1, and Saturday, November 3, spectators at the Bahrain circuit can be amongst the first worldwide to sample the colors, noise and smells of the new series, which is set to start at the Dubai Autodrome on January 26.

All Speedcar drivers will be on hand throughout the three-day event to entertain the crowds, and wet their appetites for the spectacle of the hotly-anticipated series when it begins in the New Year. The drivers will be joined on-track by ex-GP2, A1 GP and current DTM racer Mathias Lauda, who will be taking the opportunity to sample the Speedcar chassis, with a view to becoming involved in the competition in the future.

Speedcar makes its public debut just a week after organizers held a spectacular event at the luxurious Sumerian Beach Hotel, Dubai, to present the racing series to a specially invited audience of 200, which included members of the media, partners, drivers, promoters and potential sponsors.

A top-quality video package showing Speedcar's development was followed by a world-class fireworks display in the shadow of the iconic Burj al Arab Hotel, all to the roaring soundtrack of the new Speedcar engine.

Benoit Lamonerie, General Manager of Speedcar Series, said: "The series's development continues at a rapid pace following our highly successful corporate launch last week. We are now in the extremely exciting position to be able to demonstrate our cars and drivers to the public, and we hope they all enjoy our special display throughout the event at the BIC. This is another major step towards our first race in January, when will be joined by the GP2 Asia championship as part of Grand Racing."
