Jean Alesi turns fastest lap in testing Sunday

The Speedcar Series conducted the first of a 2 day test session at the Dubai Autodrome on Sunday where a total of eight teams and 14 drivers attended.

Teams from various parts of the globe turned out to test the 6.2 liter V8 Speedcars including David Price Racing from the UK; Malaysian team Meritus Racing, Christian Jones Racing from Australia and German Phoenix Racing that also ran in Speedcar Series' debut season. Three teams from Italy including AF Corse (winner of the FIA GT Championship), Durango and N Technology were also present.

"We're pursuing a different strategy this year by leasing the cars to teams as opposed to maintaining the cars ourselves as we did last season. We are targeting professional teams that have proven track records in motorsport with successful racing histories," Claudio Berro, Speedcar Series' Operations Director said. “The evolution of the cars is equally important to growing Speedcar Series and the new fuel injection system will make for better track action and excitement. The cars have already shown better performance compared to the ones from last year and we are very happy that our strong technical have achieved this."

The fastest laps clocked at the test session are as follows:

Jean Alesi 1:42.501
Bertrand Baguette 1:44.193
