Late morning update from Milwaukee
The Milwaukee Mile |
Its about 11:30 a.m. local time on an low 70s, overcast day here at The Milwaukee Mile. The Verizon IndyCar Series teams have mostly set up their work areas and are preparing for today's lone practice session which begins at 5 p.m. local time.
This is something of a strange weekend schedule wise with only the 1 IndyCar practice session today followed by an intense day of practice and qualifying prior to the ABC Supply Wisconsin 250 tomorrow. Indy Lights Presented By Cooper Tires is also here. They have a 4:00 practice session followed by qualifying at 6:30 p.m. this evening.
We are hearing through the grapevine that the series' rumored return to Elkhart Lake seems to be a go. Of course, the race here in Milwaukee is on tenuous ground and Elkhart Lake would seem a logical replacement. We'll follow up on that story throughout the weekend.
One thing that will be of concern certainly for tomorrow is the weather. Our informants at the AR1 Greater Milwaukee Weather Bureau tell us there is a 60% chance of rain between 2-4 p.m. tomorrow, tapering off to a 35% chance from 5-6 p.m. Again, we will keep you updated throughout the weekend.
We're off to grab lunch at the Team Penske hospitality area, where we hear Malcolm Mitchell from The Food Network is preparing lunch for the media.
More later…
