ALMS returns to ABC for St. Pete
The American Le Mans Series’ Acura Sports Car Challenge of St. Petersburg will air ‘live’ at 1:30 p.m. ET on Saturday, April 4th on ABC. It is the second season of Series involvement with ‘ESPN on ABC.’
Following what many consider to be the best opening round of a Series’ season at the 57th Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring presented by Fresh from Florida, teams and drivers are ready to continue on the first street circuit of 2009. With play-by-play action from veteran motorsports talent Greg Creamer, analysis from former winning road racer Bill Adam and pit reporting by veteran Dorsey Schroeder and Kelli Stavast, ABC will feature world-class sports car racing involving some of the most experience announce talent in the field.
Creamer served in a similar role with ABC a year ago. He has worked with the American Le Mans Series along with other forms of motorsport as a reporter for SPEED. He has done play-by-play primarily after beginning his motorsports broadcasting career in 1987 with snowmobile racing and other action sports for a local cable outlet.
Adam, a two-time Sebring winner, has covered the American Le Mans Series for SPEED and NBC Sports in addition to his current role with ABC. He remains active in the racing community as a test driver and a vintage sports car racer.
Well-known racing analyst/pit reporter Schroeder boasts more than 20 years of racing experience, including the 2001 season of the American Le Mans Series, 17 career victories in Trans-Am and competition in NASCAR and International Race of Champions (IROC). On-track experience and off-track abilities as a SPEED analyst allow him to excel in explaining racing to new and curious audiences.
Stavast, one of racing’s upcoming talents, currently works as a motorsports reporter for NBC Sports, ABC and SPEED as well as a pit reporter for Championship Off Road Racing (CORR). Previously a NCAA athlete in four sports, Stavast has served as a reporter for other sports including NCAA basketball and baseball, ABA basketball, boxing, National Diving Championship and World Team Tennis.
The Acura Sports Car Challenge of St. Petersburg will also be featured live on the ‘Best of XM on Sirius’ from 1 to 3:30 p.m. ET on XM Channel 244 and Sirius 126, and will be streamed worldwide by American Le Mans Radio featuring John Hindhaugh as host/play-by-play. In addition, Live Timing and Scoring is available on americanlemans.com.
The race also will mark the first street race for the MICHELIN® Green X® Challenge. For tickets, visit americanlemans.com or gpstpete.com.
