Ferrari Land opens in Abu Dhabi

Ferrari Land in Abu Dhabi, the world’s largest indoor theme park, opened its doors to the public on Tuesday after last week’s original ceremony was put back following the death of Sheik Saqr bin Mohammed Al-Qasimi, Emier of Ras al-Khaimah.

The massive facility, located alongside the United Arab Emirates’ Formula 1 circuit, was supposed to have opened last Thursday although, with the country grieving, Ferrari Chairman Luca di Montezemolo presented only a light presentation after which a select few were able to experience the venue for the first time.

Tuesday featured queues to the doors of the Yas Island-based park, which spans an enormous 176,000 square meters of interior space inside its 700 meter-long building, protected from desert heat by its metal skin roof.

Rides include ‘G-Force Tower’ (a freefall plummet of 60 meters), the world’s fastest roller coaster (speeds in excess of 200 km/h / 125 mph) and fantasy 4D attraction ‘Speed of Magic’.
