Dodge selects Avenger decals for ‘car of tomorrow’ races

Chrysler Group officials announced today that the Dodge Avenger will compete in NASCAR Nextel Cup "car of tomorrow" races in 2007. The Dodge Charger will remain the manufacturer's entry in the other events. This of course with body templates this just involves changing headlight decals to call it an Avenger, a Hummer, a Cadillac, a Sherman M1 tank or anything else someone wants to call a car.

The Avenger race car debuted alongside the 2008 Avenger passenger car today at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. Dodge Nextel Cup drivers Elliott Sadler, Kurt Busch, and Juan Pablo Montoya participated in the announcement.

"With NASCAR Nextel Cup racing two distinct cars for 2007, it makes perfect sense to have the Avenger join the Charger in the Dodge racing family," said Mike Accavitti, Director – Dodge Motorsports and SRT Product Planning, Chrysler Group. "Dodge is all about delivering bold, capable performance, and that will become even more evident when the Avenger hits NASCAR's race tracks this year."
