DEI signs another Earnhardt

Dale Earnhardt Inc. officials announced Tuesday the team has signed Jeffrey Earnhardt to a "long-term driving services contract." Jeffrey is the son of Kerry Earnhardt and the grandson of the late Dale Earnhardt. DEI said Earnhardt would initially be a development driver, competing for Andy Santerre Motorsports in the Busch East Series and also driving in the UARA Late Model Touring Series.

"In his young career to date, Jeffrey has displayed many of the attributes we are looking for in a driver," DEI owner Teresa Earnhardt said in a statement. "Experience will be key to developing and preparing Jeffrey to progress to and compete at higher levels."

Jeffrey Earnhardt, 17, turned heads at the General Motors Developmental Program last year. "Signing with DEI is a dream come true," Earnhardt said. "To progress as a driver at the premier organization that Dale and Teresa built means a lot to me. I know I'll be surrounded with the right equipment to take me to the next level, so now it's up to me to prove myself." Scenedaily.com
