Waltrip’s crew chief on paid leave

David Hyder, crew chief for Michael Waltrip, has been placed on a paid leave of absence as the team continues to investigate the rules violation that resulted in Waltrip absorbing a $100,000 fine and the loss of 100 series points. Hyder and team director Bobby Kennedy were suspended indefinitely by NASCAR after inspectors discovered an unusual substance in the Waltrip Toyota's intake manifold. NASCAR later said the team had used a fuel additive. MWR vice president Ty Norris said Kennedy remains at work at the team's shop and is assisting in the investigation into the violation. Norris said the team's internal investigation will continue "until we find out" the details of the situation. "It could be hours, days, weeks – we won't stop," he said. Scenedaily.com
