Audi R10 too powerful for dyno!
Audi has revealed that the torque produced by its new V12 diesel sportscar engine was too much to be tested on its existing dynamometers. The 5.5-litre bi-turbo TDI engine produces in excess of 650 bhp – more than its successful V8 gasoline predecessor – and generates over 1100 Nm of torque. The manufacturer had to re-equip the latest generation of engine dynamometers at its Audi Sport base with special gearboxes in order to withstand the forces. The R10 sportscar will make its debut at the 2006 Sebring 12 Hours.
