Team has nothing to fear – Haug
Germany's motor sport chief and FIA vice-president, Hermann Tomczyk, confirmed that members of the World Motor Sport Council will have enough time on the day of the extraordinary meeting in Paris to reach a verdict.
"The hearing begins very early," he is quoted as saying by Sport-Informations-Dienst.
Tomczyk also confirmed Max Mosley's recent claim that McLaren drivers Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso, respectively first and second in the championship, could be docked points or even excluded from the title chase.
"The range of penalties includes those possibilities," he agreed.
Former grand prix driver Hans-Joachim Stuck, however, crosses his fingers that the drivers will not be punished, as he fears the championship battle against their Ferrari chasers would "become a farce".
Meanwhile, Mercedes' Norbert Haug is confident.
"Those who do nothing wrong have nothing to fear," he said, insisting that espionage is contradictory to McLaren's team ethics.
"We are not a team that wants to win races based on manipulations," the German explained, repeating that the Woking based team is not scared of the FIA enquiry.
Haug said: "It is in our interest to clear everything up. Everywhere in motor sport, Mercedes is well known for its fair play."
