Hamilton to become new face of Vodafone
Lewis Hamilton is to take over David Beckham’s old role as the face of mobile phone giant Vodafone. It signals that the 22-year-old racing driver will be the new “Goldenballs" of British sport.
Hamilton’s role as the firm’s “global brand ambassador" could see him fronting a multi-million pound advertising and promotion campaign. His earnings on and off the track could hit £500million over the next ten years, ranking him second only to golf’s Tiger Woods as the world’s highest paid sportsman.
Now rising star Hamilton is seen as appealing to a younger audience than Becks, who has just moved to US club LA Galaxy.
A Vodafone marketing spokesman said: “He will definitely become a bigger part of our activity." The SUN
