Bernie stays silent on rising spy saga
(GMM) Bernie Ecclestone has refused to comment on the latest developments in F1's intensifying spy saga.
With Italian police at Monza reportedly serving McLaren chiefs with prosecution notices, and the British team facing possible exclusion from the championship at a hearing next Thursday, F1's chief executive was sought out for his usual forthright digest on the implications for the sport.
But the 76-year-old on Saturday followed McLaren's lead in explaining that he will simply wait for the outcome of the World Motor Sport Council meeting next Thursday.
"I do not have an opinion," Ecclestone told the German broadcaster Premiere, "and I am not allowed to have one either, because I am a member of the World Council."
He added: "We will have to wait and see what happens on Thursday."
