A1GP forced to abandon biofuel test

A1GP officials have said they have identified an incompatibility issue between the new biofuel and current engine, however, they are confident that they have already found a solution to the problem.

The unexpected delay means that teams will not run on E30 biofuel at next week’s official test, however the development car will continue to run on the mixture.

‘In our ongoing biofuel tests we have identified an incompatibility between the engine and our E30 ethanol mix fuel,’ a statement read.

‘We believe however that we have already resolved this problem. We were planning to run all cars on biofuel at our final Silverstone test session on Tuesday and Wednesday next week.

‘However, to ensure there is no ongoing quality issue for all our engines, we will instead continue to run the test car only.

‘We are confident that this will resolve the problem, and it remains our intention to run all our cars on biofuel mix for the first race of the season at Zandvoort, Netherlands on 30 September.’
