Grand-Am makes right call on Pruett
A reader writes, I am a huge Scott Pruett fan and wanted him to win the DP championship and am disappointed he made such a bad call by punting the 99 car. The first contact between the 99 car and the 01 car was CLEARLY accidental and avoidable by Pruett. Scott pinched the 99 car, basically causing the contact. The second contact was TOTALLY avoidable and basically a punt or a payback by Pruett.
The Ganassi car definitely deserved the drive-through penalty! As much as I wanted the 01 team to win the championship, they did NOT deserve to. I saw the replay of both incidents on my DVR multiple times and Grand-Am definitely made the right call. Bruce Guthrie
[Editor's Note: Plus Pruett's teammate, the Chip Ganassi Racing #19 Lexus, was laps down, holding everyone up, and refused lap after lap to honor the Blue 'move over' flag despite instructions at the drivers meeting not to interfere with the Championship contenders or intentional impact the outcome of the Championship.]
