Q and A with Lewis Hamilton
What preparations are you making for Brazil in terms of physical and mental?
"I feel good; I’m not dwelling on what could have been in China. I have been training quite a bit. Brazil is hot so I had to do some more intense training, which included exercising the other side of my neck as it is an anti-clockwise circuit. I have also been to the McLaren Technology Centre to see my engineer. We looked at onboard footage from China and also analyzed what happened at the last race to see where I was quickest and where there is room for improvement. We’ll make sure we go to Brazil with clear decisions on set-up and where we aim to go with it. I was quite low key last week, no events, no partying, I’m even side-tracking some of my friends to make sure I am in the right frame of mind."
After the Chinese Grand Prix, you must be even more determined to win the World Championship in Brazil, which is a place where Ayrton Senna was revered and you’ve become a popular figure.
"I want to win wherever; it was easier and more convenient to win in China. However you can see throughout the year that I’ve been strong on new circuits so I’ve got no worries about it being a circuit I haven’t driven on before. It would be a phenomenal experience to go to Brazil and win the World Championship there. The fact that Brazil is Ayrton Senna’s homeland just adds to it. I have a great team and I know what it feels like to lose it so I will do everything in my power and dedication to win."
Felipe Massa won in Brazil last year and this year he’ll be helping Kimi while you’ll be on your own. Does this bother you?
"I haven’t thought about it. It has been a few races that Kimi’s been in the charge for the title. Felipe is not a major threat if the team ask him to get in the way. I’m comfortable with the pace of my car and my abilities. I feel I can do a better job than them. I’m not going there to worry about Felipe. I’m going there to win."
