Down Under Diary – Day Three
The Champ Car drivers were up early this morning as they were the main attraction at the Press Conference / Breakfast. All but an ill Alex Figge was in attendance although a few were barely awake… I told you yesterday that they were in for a special treat. All the drivers received an authentic Australian didgeridoo and received a short lesson from a professional player. I must say that it was easy to pick out the Australia-native as he was the only one able to produce the right sound! You don’t even want to know how PT sounded when he attempted to play the didgeridoo….
The traditional “People’s Day" at the event attracted a record-setting attendance figure of 56,867, and fan number 4 million in Surfers 17-year history walked through the turnstiles today. Imagine the crowds when the Champ Cars actually hit the circuit tomorrow.
