Mexico City Friday Tidbits 2

Correction on the turbo boost pressures given below. For this race it is 38 inches (not 37) and 43 inches with P2P activated. All other races this year were 41.5 inches (not 40) and 44 inches with P2P activated. Next year the P2P boost will probably be close to 47 inches for all races but here in Mexico City, which will be 43 inches……..Will Power tells us his wrist is actually broken in two places and it is bothering him quite a bit.

11/09/07 The fog is lifting and the sun is beginning to break through so we are looking forward to a nice day weather-wise in Mexico City. The two Minardi F1 2-seat Champ Cars are currently on track……….Will Power made a couple of test laps to see how the carbon fiber brace he had fitted to his broken wrist felt. He complained it was too restrictive so the Champ Car doctors are taking him back to remove the carbon fiber

and just wrap his wrist like they did Justin Wilson's last year…….Due to the high altitude here in Mexico, the turbocharger cannot be cranked up with too much boost pressure or it would blow apart. The boost pressure has always been lower at this race for that reason. The boost pressure all year has been 40 inches normal and 44 inches when the P2P button is pressed. For this race the normal boost pressure will be 37 inches with 43 inches when the P2P is pressed. 37 to 43 inches equates to the 100 HP difference that the drivers will get when the P2P is activated for this race. If the 100 HP differential works well this weekend, we hear for next year they are looking at probably keeping the 40 inches of boost for all but Mexico City and bumping the P2P boost up higher than the 44 inches they had this year to give 100 HP extra for P2P everywhere.
