MotoGP’s Stoner in no rush to test F1 car

(GMM) Newly crowned MotoGP world champion Casey Stoner says he is in no rush to switch codes and test a formula one car.

F1's retired seven time world champion Michael Schumacher recently impressed when he climbed aboard Stoner's title-winning Ducati at the post-season Valencia test.

Australian Stoner, who is 22, says he would also one day like to follow Schumacher and Valentino Rossi's leads by switching mounts for a day.

But he told Motor Cycle News: "I'm not ready for this because I've never really driven a car.

"I've driven karts a lot but not really a car," he added.

Stoner smilingly recalls driving a Fiat Panda on the ice with Loris Capirossi and Kimi Raikkonen at Madonna di Campiglio last winter, "and I wasn't so good".

"But for sure this is something I want to do," he continued. "But maybe I'll wait some years yet and for sure it will be nice to get some advice from Michael."

Meanwhile, the website f1grandprix.it reports that Motocross MX2 world champion Toni Cairoli, sponsored by Red Bull, will test a Toro Rosso F1 car at the end of 2008.
