Champ Car too passive to win the war
A reader writes, With regard to the Champ Car into oblivion article you published, the reason nobody knows about Champ Car is that the owners and drivers are too concerned about “not burning bridges" to call out Tony George and the IRL. If the owners and drivers would, in interviews, call-out their Crapwagon brethren for the sheep they are, we’d start to get some press. It’s like the old saying goes: “All publicity is good publicity." (especially when you’re so weak that bad pub beats no pub at all). Just once I’d like to hear a driver say, live and on-camera, something like “…of course it was a great race! We’re great racers! We have great cars! Not like those Crapwagon-driving $h*t-heads in the IRL! We race here because it’s the most challenging, most competitive series in the world! Michael Andretti tucked-tail and ran to the IRL because he wasn’t good enough to cut it here anymore. He should’ve listened to his dad. We race here because we still possess our self-respect! Any of us could jump into one of Andretti’s cars and wipe those bastards up, but the minute you go over there, you lose all respect from the motorsports community because everyone knows what a bunch of Wankers they are! And Tony George is the illegitimate spawn of Lucifer himself!"
Something… ANYTHING! But no… they’re all too worried about stepping on the toes of a potential future employer.

(and no… a Champ Car race will never happen here in Nashville, unless Champ Car decides to take the IRL on as described above).
