Mosley’s days appear to be numbered
Insisting his views are from a personal perspective, and not those of the team, Gascoyne said: "It's a great shame. We've a fantastic season of motor racing, and we're all talking about something other than that.
"I think any person in that position has to consider the impact of their actions.
"As a head of a worldwide body, you have to consider whether that is appropriate, and I don't think it is. I'm sure most people agree.
"The problem we have is that if he wishes to stay it will devalue his office.
"It's true that what anyone does in their private life should be their own business, but the fact is it has been exposed, and you can't undo that.
"It is painting the whole of motorsport in a very bad light, and in my mind, someone in that position has to consider that position.
"Generally, I've always found Max a perfectly pleasant, charming guy, and as I say, what he wants to do in his private life is up to him.
"But as a public figure, given this is now in the public domain, rightly or wrongly, you then have to act accordingly."
Vijay Mallya, the billionaire co-owner of the Force India team, is caught in an unusual position because he is also chairman of the Indian ASM (Motor Sport Authority).
As one of the 222 members that make up the FIA general assembly, it means Mallya will be able to vote on Mosley's future at the extraordinary hearing due to take place later this season.
"There are two separate issues here," said Mallya. "One is, what is my position as owner of Force India Formula One, and the other is, what is my position as chairman of the Indian ASM?
"My position as owner of Force India is that now a general assembly of the FIA is going to take place, I will wait to see whatever decision there is, and we will respect that decision.
"As far as I am concerned as head of the Indian ASM, I am shocked. India is basically, culturally, a conservative country, so what has already appeared is quite shocking.
"Having said that, I have been asked several times as to what my position is going to be at the FIA general assembly
"Am I going to vote against and demand Mosley's resignation, or am I going to vote in favor?
"I have to call a meeting of the ASM council and seek the views of the members.
"I am also practical enough to say that what goes on behind closed doors is frankly none of my business.
"But I have to respect the sentiments of my fellow countrymen who represent the various clubs that make up the federation of which I am chairman.
"So we will have the unpleasant task of discussing this and take a view, and whatever view we take will hopefully represent a cross section of the various stakeholders in India."
