SPEEDTV.com to air Radio Le Mans broadcasts

SPEEDtv.com and Radio Show Limited (www.radiolemans.com) have combined forces to provide unique content for both Web sites, opening these enthusiast sites to new audiences throughout the world.

Radio Show Limited (RSL) will provide its live radio feed to SPEEDtv.com through the ALMS/Le Mans subsite, highlighted by live broadcasts and re-broadcasts of American Le Mans Series events, RSL’s mid-week motorsports talk show and ultimately, its popular twice around the clock live coverage of France’s prestigious Le Mans 24 Hours endurance race from historic Circuit de la Sarthe. Many SPEED fans in the United States and Canada will recognize the Radio Le Mans output as until last year it was the overnight on-air voice for the network’s live coverage from Le Mans each June.

Fans from throughout the world logging onto radiolemans.com will be treated to historic IMSA video, American Le Mans Series highlights and season-long commentary through a new SPEEDtv.com video player, which will feature much of SPEED’s stateside on-air sportscar racing coverage.

“This is another big step in the continued growth of SPEEDtv.com," said Joe Tripp, Editor in Chief, SPEEDtv.com & SPEED Director of Interactive Operations. “Live radio adds a new element to our comprehensive sportscar coverage, providing enthusiasts with live racing action, unique on-air personalities and an intimate link to one of most significant races in the world – the Le Mans 24 Hours endurance race."

Radio Le Mans was formed in the late 80s as the only English-speaking radio station covering the historic race. In 2006, with the future of the service in doubt, John Hindhaugh, a native of Sunderland, England, joined forces with technical director Carl Landsbert and marketing & sales expert Eve Hewitt, to form Radio Show Limited, acquired the rights to Radio Le Mans from the ACO and ensured its immediate survival by providing a regular programming cycle. Hindhaugh is also the voice of American Le Mans Series radio and the track public address announcer for all series events.

“Nobody knows sportscar racing like John and his announcing team, and I hope that by partnering to share content with our respective audiences, SPEEDtv.com and radiolemans.com can offer unrivalled international sportscar racing coverage. " said Marshall Pruett, SPEEDtv.com Automotive & Sportscar Racing Editor. “Anyone that listens to our radiolemans.com feed will be hooked immediately."

Hindhaugh talked about the new relationship and what fans can expect to hear on the radio feed.

“Everyone at Radio Show Limited is delighted to be linking up with SPEEDtv.com – everyone here instinctively ‘gets’ what we are trying to do," Hindhaugh said. “Radio Le Mans is the original ‘for the fans’ service, run by enthusiasts for enthusiasts. We want to keep radiolemans.com fresh, adding new content and video from SPEEDtv.com, especially the archived retro pieces, which is perfect for our audience. We’ve found that we can really talk to SPEEDtv.com, although we are from opposite sides of the Atlantic, we speak the same language – passion.

“We already cover every qualifying, warm up and race from the American Le Mans Series, plus three 24-hour races from Le Mans, Nurburgring (Germany) and Britcar at Silverstone (England) – all live and free," Hindhaugh continued. “From Monza, we also plan to be at Le Mans Series events – the first time there’s ever been a live radio or television presence trackside at a Le Mans Series event. We’ve extended the audio to full time, 24-7, with a heady mix of repeated live events, the latest car tests and many motorsports-oriented interviews. And every Wednesday, fans can listen to our flagship show called, Midweek Motorsports, which is two hours of interviews, features and irreverent – and often irrelevant – chat. NASCAR, Rallying, Sportscars, Formula One, etc… is all covered on the show. If it has wheels and they keep score – it’s in."
