Opportunity of lifetime for Asmer
Alongside Christian Klien, Marko Asmer is the official test driver of the BMW Sauber F1 Team for the 2008 season. The Estonian driver describes how important last year was to him, and how he hopes to be able to demonstrate his driving talent this season. Marko is the first racing driver from Estonia to have made the step up to Formula One – even if he is not yet a regular driver. It was the reward for hard work and a tiring 2007. "Last year was very important for me", recalls Marko. "I won the British Formula 3 Championship. However, if I had not been given the chance to complete a test drive at the end of last year, and thus given the opportunity to prove what I can do, then I would probably never have made it."
And Marko took his chance brilliantly. However, the 23-year-old aims to continue to work hard to improve in his first season as official test driver for the team from Munich and Hinwil: "Learn a lot, gain as much experience as possible, and do the best job possible" are Marko's objectives. "That is all I can do. I cannot influence anything else. I have just got to be quick and good. This is the chance of my life", says Marko.
