Jani ‘The greatest moment of my career’

Jani gets well wishes from his team in Brands Hatch

Neel Jani has described winning the 2007/08 A1GP World Cup of Motorsport for A1 Team Switzerland as ‘the greatest moment of his career.’

After a topsy turvey season, where Switzerland pulled out points leads only for them to be quickly eradicated, Jani finally clinched this season’s title with fourth place in the Sprint race at Brands Hatch.

He was then able to celebrate the title with a podium finish in the Feature race, the final race of the season.

‘This is the greatest moment of my career,’ said an emotional Jani. ‘I can’t put it into words this moment. A1GP has been getting tougher every season and this year we got the title.

‘After the first race, winning the title with fourth place felt a little empty but after the podium it feels fantastic. I was a little bit worried by still being sixth after the first pit stop but we had a great second pit stop, and we great pace afterwards.’

‘Brands Hatch gave us a fantastic atmosphere and a great place to win the title.’

At the end of the race, Jani and the rest of the podium finishers completed some popular smoking-tire donuts for the large crowd. However, Jani had to grab a lift back to the pits with Great Britain’s Robbie Kerr.

‘I broke the driveshaft with all the donuts,’ Jani explained.
