Jerez gets FIA all-clear for test

(GMM) FIA official Charlie Whiting has inspected the Jerez circuit's latest modifications, giving the Spanish venue the go-ahead to host a major formula one test this week.

We reported last week that the test was in doubt, with Mugello lined up as an alternative venue, because resurfacing and other works at Jerez had not been inspected by the governing body.

Every team except Ferrari and Force India are due to test at Jerez beginning on Tuesday. Ferrari will be in action alone at Mugello, while it is understood Force India does not plan to test this week.

It is believed that Williams, BMW-Sauber and Honda will begin a four-day test on Tuesday, to be joined by McLaren, Toro Rosso, Red Bull, Renault and Toyota on Wednesday.

It is the last in-season test of the 2008 championship.
