Carpentier pulling double duty this weekend

Gillett Evernham Motorsports' Patrick Carpentier is up for a busy weekend at Dover International Speedway. The driver will compete in both the NASCAR Sprint Cup and Nationwide series races at the track this weekend.

Carpentier has seven Nationwide Series starts this season, earning four top-10s, including two top-fives, with an average finish of 13.7. His Sprint Cup crew chief, Mike Shiplett, will be the crew chief for the Nationwide effort as well. Wally Rogers joins the team as car chief, beginning this weekend.

“The more seat time I’m able to get, the more I’m able to learn, and that really goes a long way in our team’s performance," said Carpentier, who is outside the top 35 in Cup owners points and must make the field for Sunday's Camping World RV 400 based on speed.

"I only have a couple races left this year in the Nationwide Series, so we want to take full advantage of these opportunities," he said. "The guys back at the shop and here at the track put in a lot of hard work making our Dodges competitive. They’ve had some bad luck the past few races, so we’re hoping to get a solid a run at Dover."
