HVM Racing Indy Lights Program Takes First Laps
“Today was a chance for us to debut our Indy Lights program and evaluate our progress," said Wiggins. “It was obvious from Andrew’s lap times that it was successful for everyone involved. We’re pleased with the quick advancement of this program after making this announcement less than one month ago."
Prendeville, who has spent the last two seasons in the Firestone Indy Lights Series, logged over 100 miles equaling over 60 laps on the 1.766-mile road course layout. Prendeville improved his lap times throughout the afternoon and was impressed by the new team.
“I try to keep my expectations low, but I think we easily exceeded all of our expectations today," commented Prendeville. “The car handled well and it was fast. We even gained more speed throughout the day and that reflected on how well we worked together. It was a good day."
Crawford oversaw Monday’s session and was also pleased with the day’s outcome.
“You couldn’t have asked for a better debut," said Crawford. “Andrew gave great feedback to the team members who reacted each time by giving him a faster machine. We’re looking for that type of chemistry from this team as we continue to grow."
HVM announced at Chicagoland earlier this season that beginning in 2009 they will field two entries in the Firestone Indy Lights Series. The team’s first event will be a doubleheader April 4 and 5 on the Streets of St. Petersburg. They will continue to test and announce final driver lineups once confirmed.
