Start time for Watkins Glen race moved up

Officials at Watkins Glen International announced today that the Camping World Grand Prix at The Glen, July 5, 2009 will be broadcast live on ABC. The race is also scheduled to start at 1:00 PM, approximately 2.5 hours sooner than the 2007 and 2008 races. The start time has been moved in support of the feedback that the track received directly from race fans.

“We are very pleased that we were able to work with the IndyCar Series and ABC to establish a green flag time that our fans requested." said Craig Rust, president of Watkins Glen International. “Having our race remain on ABC showcases the Camping World Grand Prix at The Glen to the entire nation, and allows us to continue to expose new fans to the excitement that takes place at Watkins Glen International during the 4th of July holiday weekend."

The 2009 IndyCar Series schedule will feature a total of 18 races with five being broadcast on ABC and the other 13 being broadcast on the cable network VERSUS. The 93rd Indianapolis 500, The Milwaukee Mile, Iowa Speedway, and Toronto will join the Camping World Grand Prix at The Glen on ABC.
