Bridgestone confirmed to be MotoGP supplier

Just as it did in F1, Michelin refused to bid to become the single MotoGP tire supplier in 2009, but the FIM has confirmed that rival Bridgestone has submitted a proposal.

Bridgestone, favorite to win the contract even before Michelin's announcement, appears to be the only tire manufacturer to have submitted a proposal.

"The Grand Prix Commission, composed of Messrs. Carmelo Ezpeleta (Dorna, Chairman), Claude Danis (FIM), Hervé Poncharal (IRTA) and Takanao Tsubouchi (MSMA), in the presence of Mr. Paul Butler (Secretary of the meeting), in a meeting held today at the circuit of Phillip Island, have been informed that Bridgestone has sent a proposal to FIM and Dorna to be the single tire supplier in MotoGP for 2009," read an FIM statement. "This proposal will be studied and an announcement will be made on 18th of October 2008 in Sepang, Malaysia."
