Barrichello advises Senna not to join Honda in F-1

Uncertain about his own future, Rubens Barrichello said Bruno Senna would be making a mistake if he decides to join Formula One team Honda next season.

Barrichello said his team is talking with the young Brazilian—nephew of three-time F-1 champion Ayrton Senna and runner-up in this season’s GP2 feeder series—to try to negotiate a deal for next year.

“If I could give him an advice, from a guy who likes the Senna family, I would tell him not to come to (Honda)," Barrichello told Brazilian media from Tokyo, the site of this weekend’s Japanese Grand Prix. “Not because of my situation, but because I think that with his lack of experience, he may waste an opportunity."

Barrichello said Senna should refrain from rushing into Formula One racing and pointed to countryman Nelson Piquet Jr, who is struggling with Renault this season and could lose his seat in 2009.

“You shouldn’t enter F-1 just because you want to and burn everything in a year knowing that you have the capacity to be world champion. It’s a big mistake." Barrichello said.
