Brabham karting event drawing big names

Some of the top drivers from the American Le Mans Series will join David Brabham in raising more than $70,000 as part of the BP Ultimate Charity Karting Challenge at next month’s Autosport International Show in England.

The latest entries have an Audi flavor. Tom Kristensen, eight-time winner at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, and fellow Le Mans champions Emanuele Pirro and Frank Biela will participate. They will join fellow American Le Mans Series competitors Darren Turner, Johnny Mowlem, Guy Smith, Rob Bell and Oliver Gavin, among others.

“I am delighted with the response from such high-caliber drivers for this year’s BP Ultimate Charity Karting Challenge," Brabham said. “This event truly amazes me. We raised nearly £50,000 last year and January’s race is shaping up to be the biggest and best yet. Despite the current financial situation, it’s fantastic to see that the sport and public alike are still committed to this event and to helping to raise money for some very worthy causes. It should be a fantastic event."
