Kovalainen fastest in ’09 cars at Jerez

McLaren topped the times for 2009 F1 cars on day two of testing at Jerez Wednesday. Meanwhile, Sebastien Buemi once again set the pace for Toro Rosso in his 2008 spec car. Therefore his times are totally irrelevant.

"This has been a useful couple of days for me, running in wet and dry conditions," said Buemi. "Even though we are still in the '08 car, I have learned a lot in terms of how we operate over a race weekend, as we simulated a qualifying session and the race.

"It was good preparation and now, all we need is our new car," he added.

"There were a lot of questions going into today and I answered them," said Mark Webber at the end of the day. "From my point of view, it all went better than expected and to do over a race distance on my first day back in the cockpit, with several weeks to go to Melbourne is a good thing."

Buemi now hands over to Sebastien Bourdais for the remainder of the test while a slow as usual Nelson Piquet hands over Renault duties to his superior teammate, Fernando Alonso.
