Final 2009 Superleague calendar

The final Superleague calendar for this season has been submitted to the FIA today. France will host the opening of the championship this coming summer in Magny Cours and Jarama joins the calendar this second season with the last race of the series in November. The fans of AC Milan, one of the founder clubs of the championship, will be the chosen ones who will support their team at the circuit of Monza next October.

“Following the success and excellent reception of Superleague Formula's inaugural season, various circuits contacted us about the possibility of hosting a race in our second season of the Championship. Our initial plan was to increase the number of races from 6 to 9 this year, however, due to the worldwide crisis we decided to adopt a conservative approach and maintain the same number as last year. Superleague Formula will race at some of the most prestigious circuits in Europe, each one with a participating football club."

“After the withdrawal of Formula 1 from Magny Cours, we are very proud to have the opportunity to race at this circuit and it will also be our first race in France, where we hope to sign one of the top football clubs shortly. One of our objectives is to race at circuits close to where our participating football clubs are based. This is one of the reasons we will be racing at Monza, Italy and Jarama in Spain this year, so that we can give all fans the opportunity to cheer on their club car. We are also currently in negotiations with some private and public promoters in Brazil about the possibility of having a seventh race out of our published calendar. Brazil is a key market for Superleague Formula given that we have two of the biggest football clubs from the country, Flamengo and Corinthians adding up to more than 55 million fans."
