Roush team hopes to have lug nut issue resolved
Lug nuts from three of the organization’s Fords – those of Greg Biffle, Matt Kenseth and Carl Edwards – came off during pit stops in the Samsung 500, causing each driver to lose precious track position.
“They all came probably at the worst situation," Reiser said. “They were all within 65 laps to go, so it killed their track position."
Edwards’ problem came at perhaps the worst time. Edwards was leading before the final caution, but after a lug nut came off on the ensuing pit stop, he restarted 11th. Edwards ended up 10th.
“Matt and Greg definitely had cars that could’ve finished 1-2," Reiser said. “We fight this thing every week because everybody’s trying as hard as they possibly can to beat somebody off pit road. You get weekends where everybody just tries too hard.
“That’s kind of what we went in to – just everybody trying to go as fast as they can, and they knocked some lug nuts off the car all at the same time. It was right there at crunch time, and it cost us big." Scenedaily.com
