F1 names miss Laureus plaudits in 2009
(GMM) Formula one drivers have failed to win coveted Laureus sports awards in 2009.
Lewis Hamilton won the World Breakthrough of the Year award last year, but although nominated in 2009, Sebastian Vettel has missed out, while Olympic swimmer Rebecca Adlington picked up the prize in London.
Reigning world champion Lewis Hamilton, meanwhile, was nominated for this year's World Sportsman of the Year, having won the 2008 title at the final corner.
But it was the Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt who received the prize, also ahead of MotoGP's Valentino Rossi, footballer Cristiano Ronaldo and tennis' Rafael Nadal.
