Updates for Ferrari at Silverstone
After testing the latest components during a straight-line test at Fiorano on Monday, Ferrari is now ready to roll out its most recently developed parts. Felipe Massa will enjoy use of a lighter chassis, so far used only by Räikkönen whose general build makes the Finn the heavier of the two drivers.
Also tested in Italy by Massa – who replaced test driver Marc Gené just one day after the Spaniard's Le Mans 24-Hour win – was a new front wing and secondary parts on the front end of the car. As well as this, new wheel flanges and a new mounting system for them will first be used in England, allowing stopping times to be decreased. The latest suspension geometry parameters will let the car's weight distribution be moved further forwards in a bid to improve overall balance and downforce over the course of a lap whilst, significantly, allowing the Ferrari's tires to reach racing temperatures quicker, both at the start of the race and after pit-stops.
