Buddy Rice lands Grand-Am seat

Holly Hill-based Spirit of Daytona will put Buddy Rice and Antonio Garcia in the No. 90 Spirit of Daytona Porsche-Cayenne Coyote Daytona Prototype for the 2 p.m. July 4 Brumos Porsche 250 at Daytona International Speedway.

The pair will shift to full-time rides in the No. 09 for the remainder of the season as current drivers Guy Cosmo and Scott Russell take on a Koni Challenge Series car for the rest of that series' 2009 racing calendar.

Rice won the 2004 Indy 500 and drove the 2009 Rolex 24 At Daytona winner, the No. 58 Brumos Porsche-Riley. Co-driving the Rolex 24 winner along with Rice was Darren Law, David Donohue and Garcia.

"I am very much looking forward to the challenge of developing the Coyote prototype," Garcia said.

"I've proven I can win and the next step in any true racer's career is developing a race car. It's a big challenge but one I look forward to doing," the Spaniard added.
