German quintet show humor with Nazi salute

(GMM) F1's quintet of German drivers on Thursday showed the sport still has a sense of humor, even amid the scandal involving Bernie Ecclestone and his Hitler comments.

At the Nurburgring, the German manufacturer BMW's F1 boss Mario Theissen slammed the F1 chief executive's dictatorial musings as "disgusting" and said he wants to hear yet another apology.

But as the international media met with local heroes Sebastian Vettel, Nico Rosberg, Adrian Sutil, Nick Heidfeld and Timo Glock in the official FIA press conference, humor made a comeback.

When Rosberg was illustrating with his hand a car speeding up a hill, Vettel began to snigger before giving the press a full Nazi salute. The other drivers followed suit and the room exploded into laughter.

To the Express newspaper, Ecclestone apologized for the affair once again, insisting he will not give in to pressure to stay away from the German venue this weekend.
