Raikkonen snubs Schumacher
It is all a far cry from 2005, when Raikkonen won seven GPs, finishing second in the World Championship to Ferrari legend Michael Schumacher. And, in 2007, the Finn just pipped Brit Lewis Hamilton to the title in the final race of the season, winning six GPs and racking up 110 points.
Raikkonen is doing little to improve on his slow-coach displays for his £30million-a-year wages, with just three points on the board.
08/02/09 Kimi Raikkonen has delivered an enormous snub to returning legend Michael Schumacher. The 29-year-old Finn, known as The Iceman, has come up with a distinctly frosty response to the German's decision to come out of retirement and sign up as his teammate from the European Grand Prix in Valencia in three weeks' time.
Most of the world has been in raptures since the seven times world champion said he would step in for the injured Felipe Massa – but not Raikkonen.
He said:" It makes no difference to me who drives the second Ferrari. It'll be nice to have a teammate. We've raced closely before."
The pair have their admiration for each other firmly under control.
Schumacher telephoned from retirement to congratulate Raikkonen as he climbed the steps of the podium to his first Ferrari win only to have the phone put down on him.
Unlike his teammate from Brazil, Raikkonen – making his debut in Rally Finland this weekend where he ran out of talent and crashed – has refused any advice from the master. If an out of shape and 40-year old Schumacher comes in and beats Raikkonen, who has experience with the current car, Raikkonen's career will be over. Actually Ferrari should have sacked Raikkonen years ago. He brings nothing to the table, and the fans cannot get excited about him because he has an attitude, frequents strip clubs, when he talks he is boring as hell and can put you to sleep in minutes.
