NASCAR Foundation announces NASCAR Day in Canada
Starting July 11 and running until Sept. 13, fans will be able to stop by participating Canadian Tire stores across Canada to make a $5 donation in return for their 2009 NASCAR Day collectable lapel pin. This marks the first time a Canadian company has made the charitable pins available in-store to fans.
‘As the lead partner of NASCAR in Canada and through our ongoing commitment to helping kids get involved with organized sport, we are excited to take part in this initiative, says Dan Thompson, president, Canadian Tire Jumpstart. ‘With over 375 Canadian Tire stores across the country, we are pleased to be able to offer our customers and racing fans the opportunity to join us in this important cause.'
Through the partnership between The NASCAR Foundation and Canadian Tire, a portion of the proceeds raised will benefit Canadian Tire Jumpstart®, a community-based charitable program that helps kids aged 4-18 in financial need participate in organized sport and recreation. Since its launch in February 2005, Canadian Tire Jumpstart has helped give more than 176,546 Canadian kids in financial need the chance to play.
All of the proceeds raised through NASCAR Day in Canada will be dedicated to helping children and families in need across Canada.
Since it began in the U.S. in 2004, NASCAR Day has raised more than $6.5 million for charity.
