NHLR faces possibility of shutout
Newman/Haas/Lanigan Racing isn't dwelling on the prospect of going winless for the second time in 27 years because the remaining four IndyCar Series races leave opportunities for Graham Rahal and teammate Oriol Servia to break through.
But excuse the team if it's particularly focused on the season's final road course race Sunday in Sonoma, Calif. That stop plays to both drivers' strengths and provides perhaps the last and best chance to avoid being shut out for the first time since 1994, when legendary Mario Andretti and Nigel Mansell combined for three poles, but no wins.
"It's not something we want to happen," said Rahal, eighth in points but 32 behind fifth-place Danica Patrick. "We've had several opportunities thrown away and hope for a good result this weekend. It would be unfortunate for the team and perhaps selfishly for me, but we should be better." More at USA Today
