GP2 mechanic in coma after Spa incident

(GMM) A mechanic working in the pitlane of the F1 support category GP2 is in an induced coma on Saturday night.

57-year-old Vasco Rossi of the Trident team was struck on the head by a wheel gun after a car caught on a cable while driving down the pitlane at Spa-Francorchamps.

He was airlifted to hospital and will remain in comatose for three days, but is not in a life-threatening condition, a spokeswoman for the series told the Associated Press.

Monaco native Stefano Coletti was also airlifted to hospital on Saturday after a head-on crash at Eau Rouge during the GP2 race, but is suffering from nothing but shock, the spokeswoman added.
