Gene admits staying at Ferrari likely for 2010
Marc Gene |
(GMM) Marc Gene has revealed it is "highly likely" he will stay as a part-time Ferrari test driver next year rather than return to a F1 race cockpit.
Along with McLaren counterpart and countryman Pedro de la Rosa, the Spaniard has been linked with a seat at the new Spanish team Campos.
But Gene, a 35-year-old who contested 36 grands prix mainly with Minardi, insists he remains happy with his role at F1's most famous team as well as racing Le Mans cars.
"Some teams have contacted me. But, for me, Ferrari is a dream come true," he said at an Abu Dhabi university earlier this week.
"I would have second thoughts about leaving. Regarding the contract, we are talking now but it is highly likely I will stay next year. New teams are coming in but I'm very happy where I am," added Gene.
