Sarah Fisher To Be Grand Marshal At NASCAR Race

Sarah Fisher Racing’s (SFR) Sarah Fisher will be the Honorary Grand Marshal at the Dollar General 300 at Lowe’s Motor Speedway in Charlotte, N.C. on Fri., October 16. Two Dollar General cars fielded by Braun Racing will be painted pink for the race in support of Susan G. Komen for the Cure® and its efforts to raise money and awareness for breast cancer research and community programs. Brian Vickers and Reed Sorenson join Fisher in this effort to celebrate National Breast Cancer Awareness month.

The NASCAR Nationwide Series race comes on the heels of Fisher’s IndyCar Series event at Homestead-Miami Speedway this past weekend, where the four- time “Most Popular Driver" winner drove a pink car of her own. Fisher’s team partnered with Komen for the Cure to “go pink" for October’s National Breast Cancer Awareness Month in a multi-faceted initiative to raise money and awareness for breast cancer. Prior to attending the race in her signature pink suit, the IndyCar driver will join Komen President and CEO Hala Moddelmog, NASCAR wives and mothers and other famous motorsports women at a pre-race luncheon, celebrating women at the Bank of America Corporate Headquarters.

“I’m so excited that there will be so many pink cars on the tracks in October," said Fisher. “Our hope is that, through these efforts, we will set a trend for others to follow. We are so happy to work with Susan G. Komen for the Cure and Dollar General to raise money and awareness for breast cancer."

Fans attending the NASCAR Nationwide race on Friday will also have the opportunity to obtain Fisher’s autograph during a signing at the Energizer tent in the midway at 3:00 p.m. EDT. Fisher will also make an appearance at the Komen for the Cure tent.

Fisher’s IndyCar Series team also auctioned off its pink race gear, including her specially designed pink race-worn helmet, and other items donated by celebrities on eBay’s Mission Fish website. A pink walled tire, similar to the ones Fisher raced with at Homestead-Miami Speedway, is still up for bids with the signatures of the entire starting lineup from the Firestone Indy 300.
